Year 5 Explore the Thames

Last week our Year 5 pupils took part in the Thames Explorer Programme, joining a hands-on course called Rivers & Environmental Issues to complement their Geography river studies.

During the trip, students explored the journey of a river from its source to its mouth, with a particular focus on the Thames. They investigated environmental challenges, sustainability, and ways to protect our waterways, all while enjoying the activity of river dipping.

The programme provided an invaluable opportunity for pupils to combine classroom learning with real-world experience, bringing their rivers unit to life. Through practical investigation and exploration, the children gained a deeper understanding of how rivers work and the environmental issues that affect them.
