What an extraordinary few weeks it has been! Our 205 Latymer Prep Swimathon has not merely met expectations it has comprehensively blown them out of the water in ways that continue to inspire and amaze us.
Though they began their fundraising efforts four weeks ago with the ambitious target of £16,000, the pupils were not intimidated and with the support of their friends and family they have raised an impressive £21,500 - an incredible £5,500 over their initial goal! To achieve this, each pupil created their own fundraising page and sent out messages to their community sharing why the Swimathon, and the Prep Bursary Fund more generally, matters to them.
The swimming achievements have been equally remarkable. Under the guidance of our swim coaches, pupils completed an astounding 7,000 lengths covering a cumuluative distance of 175,000 metres - equivalent to just over 100 miles! This feat highlights not only our pupils' excellent swimming skills, but also their resilient team spirit and dedication.
A special thank you is due to Mr. Mills, whose exceptional coaching and leadership were instrumental in the Swimathon's success. Similarly, our thanks to Ms. Hall, who aided our pupils as they created an eye-catching fundraising thermometer to display in the Prep Reception, providing daily motivation.
All money raised from the Swimathon will go to the Prep Bursary Fund, through which we aim to support at least one new Year 3 pupil each September. The record breaking amount raised through this event will make a phenomenal difference - £21,500 is over a 1/4 of our annual goal!
As Latymer Prep continues to inspire and support its pupils, the 2025 Swimathon stands as a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through the collective effort and shared purpose of our community. This achievement belongs to each and every one of you - well done!
